Bradford Traveller
livery guide

Between 1995 and 2001, Bradford Traveller went through many different liveries. Some were trial liveries that were quickly changed, others lasted for many years.

Below is a guide to all the different liveries used from when Bradford Traveller was created in September 1995 to when First introduced the corporate livery for older buses in January 2001.

Livery version 0

From September 1995

Initially buses gained a blue and red 'Bradford Traveller' logo on the standard Yorkshire Rider livery. A corporate name all in red replaced this on many buses in early 1997

Livery Version 1

November 1995

This is the first version of Bradford Traveller livery which was worn only by Leyland Olympian 5084

5084 gained version 5 during October 1996

Livery version 2

December 1995

Leyland Olympian 5205 and
Leyland Tiger 1615 wore this livery

5205 gained version 8 in June 1997

Livery version 3

January 1996

Leyland Olympian 5098 was painted in this livery

By March 1996 the red relief was altered to the style used in version 5 below

Livery version 4

January 1996

At the same time as the above style, Leyland Olympian 5114 gained this livery. The light blue being slightly darker than the version above

5114 retained this until April 1999 when it gained version 8

Livery version 5

March 1996 to May 1997

This was the livery that was decided on, using the light blue from #3 but the red relief from #4. The first buses to gain this version included Leyland Tiger 1622 & Olympians 5176 & 5401. There is no red wedge on the single deck version of the livery

Livery version 6

April 1996

Leyland Atlantean 6032 was painted in this version which didn't have any of the red relief and also carried the original style of fleetname.

6032 carried this livery until it was withdrawn

Livery version 7

December 1996

This non standard version was applied to Leyland Olympian 5208 and Leyland Atlantean 6358

5208 gained version 8 in June 1997

Livery version 8

May 1997 to May 2000

This version of livery replaced version 5 as the standard Bradford Traveller livery. Leyland Olympians 5509-5511 were some of the first buses to gain this style

Livery version 9

January 1998

5115 gained this very plain livery. It never operated like this and within a week was repainted into version 8 above

From February 1998 buses had their 'Bradford Traveller' names replaced by 'First Bradford'

Livery version 10

March 1998 to Present

The FirstGroup corporate livery was first seen in Bradford on Volvo Olympians 5222-9 and all new buses from then onwards received this livery.

Livery version 0.2

June 1998

By now buses which were still in Yorkshire Rider livery, mainly Atlanteans had the lower green panels removed and therefore a partial repaint in cream. The latest style of fleetname was carried

Livery version 11

February 2000

Leyland Olympians 5204 and 5206 gained this simplified livery along with advertising for the new DayRider and CountyRider tickets

Livery version 12

April 2000

Volvo Olympians 5404 and 5405 gained this overall advert livery for the new First Bradford FirstCard

Livery version 13

August 2000 to December 2000

Volvo Olympian 5604 gained this livery in August 2000 and then Leyland Olympian 5204 was also repainted in December 2000. Further repaints were cancelled due to the introduction of the corporate livery for older vehicles in January 2001

Livery version 14

January 2001 to June 2001

First introduced their corporate livery for older vehicles at the start of 2001. Buses initally received this version without the pink fading effect. Leyland Olympians 5203, 5206 & 5208 were the first repaints in Bradford

Livery version 15

June 2001 to Present

All standard floor buses in the Bradford fleet currently wear the FirstGroup corporate livery for older buses, complete with the pink faders added on the lower panels

Thanks to the original artists of the plain bus nets used above, liveries shown were drawn by me.
