Most Bus Changes now take place on set dates each year. In 2005 there are six dates are these are the weekends of 29th January, 23rd April, 30th July, 3rd September, 29th October & 10th December. Note there are no changes in March or June this year and the extra date in December coincides with the national rail timetable change

  • First Halifax: There will be a minor timetable alteration on services 561, 590, 592 and a route and timetable change at peak times on service M62

  • First Huddersfield: Service 363 will receive a revised timetable

  • Paul's Travel: There will be a new hourly service between Huddersfield & Meltham. Operating as 324A to Meltham and 321A to Huddersfield via Marten Nest

  • Stotts: A revised route will be introduced on service H1

Service 300 Penistone - Ingbirchworth - Upper Denby, A revised timetable is introduced with buses now starting later and finishing earlier

Operators involved are Arriva Yorkshire, FairRider, First Bradford, First Halifax, First Huddersfield, First Leeds, Harrogate & District, Halifax Joint Committee, Keighley & District, Pegasus, Red Arrow and Yorkshire Traction.
  • MAIN HEADLINES

  • New Network in Ilkley & Otley- Services W1, W2, W3, W5, W6, W7 & W10 operated by First Quickstep, W5 evening and sunday journeys operated by First Bradford and W9 operated by Pegasus will all be withdrawn and replaced by a new network of MetroConnect services. New services 960, 961, 962, 964 & 967 will be operated by Pegasus and will replace services W1, W2, W3, W5, W7 & W9. First Quickstep will operate new services 965 & 966 which replace services W10 & W6 and First Bradford will operate new service 963 which replaces evening and sunday journeys on service W5.

  • Tender Changes in Huddersfield - Services 354/355, 368, 374/375 will transfer from First Huddersfield (Red Arrow) to Yorkshire Traction with no changes to the timetable. Services 384/385 will pass from Red Arrow to FairRider, also with no changes to the timetable.

  • Extra Journeys on the 36 - Harrogate & District are introducing a number of extra Monday to Friday journeys on the 36. These are as follows 0945 & 1930 from Leeds to Harrogate, 1450 & 1550 from Harrogate to Leeds and 1835 & 1900 from Ripon to Harrogate

  • Service Changes in Heckmondwike & Dewsbury - Arriva Yorkshire are making further changes to their network in North Kirklees. A revised route and timetable will be introduced on services 209/19, 215, 221, 229, 226/7. Service 214 will be withdrawn. Services 205, 207/8, 225 & 254 will receive a revised timetable

  • OTHER CHANGES

  • Arriva Yorkshire: There will be minor changes to services 422/5/7 & 496. Service 497 will be withdrawn with services 490/1/2/3 now receiving revised routes following changes to the road network in Fairburn. 

  • First Bradford: There will be a revised timetable on services 72, 610, 641, 653/4 & 675. The frequency of Blue Line 607 will be reduced to every 12 minutes. Service 268 (First Bradford journeys) will be withdrawn

  • First Halifax: The sunday service 502 will be reduced to operate every 2 hours. There are also changes on Hebden Bridger Flexibus services

  • First Huddersfield: Additional journeys will be introduced on service 314, The routes of services 327/8 will be altered & services 380/1 will extend to Clifton

  • First Leeds: There will be changes to services 18/18A, 35, 46, 51/51A, 55, 56, 61, 63/63A, 71, 85, 87/87A, 92, 95, 98/X98, 757, 781 & X84. Services 53 & 63C will be withdrawn

  • Halifax Joint Committee: A revised timetable will be introduced on services 28A, 34, 36, 392 & 509

  • Keighley & District: There will be a revised timetable on The Shuttle 662 & service 697

Saturday 10th September 2005: (First in Huddersfield)

Services 398/399 Huddersfield-Storthes Hall Campus, These services recommence for the new University year

Monday 5th September 2005: (Pride of the Dales)

Service 74A Grassington-Bolton Abbey-Ilkley, The 0650 from Grassington and 0735 from Ilkley on Monday to Saturdays have been withdrawn

Saturday 3rd September to Monday 5th September 2005  
Operators involved are Arriva Yorkshire, First Halifax, First Huddersfield, First Leeds, Keighley & District, K-Line, M Travel, South Yorkshire Motors, TJ Walsh and Yorkshire Traction.
  • MAIN HEADLINES

  • Changes on The Zone - Keighley & District will be making some changes to "The Zone" network of services, Service 701 will be withdrawn and replaced by rerouted service 720, services 702/3 & 704/5 will be revised and Service 707 will be withdrawn with all journeys now running as service 706. Service 715 will receive a revised route and service 719 will now run to an increased frequency of every 10 minutes. There will also be minor changes on standard services 65, 713, 727 & 770.

  • Service 502 Withdrawn - Service 502 operated by First Halifax between Halifax and Keighley will be withdrawn during Monday to Saturday daytimes. It will be replaced in part by a new service 504 between Halifax and Denholme only via Bradshaw and operated by T.J. Walsh. This also means all buses between Halifax and Huddersfield will now be numbered 503.

  • South Yorkshire Motors Expands - Following the introduction of service 487 back in July, which also receives a revised timetable, new service 488 will be introduced operating hourly between Knottingley and Chequerfield via Pontefract

  • Service Changes in Pontefract and Castleford - Arriva Yorkshire are making changes to services 135/6/7, 145/9/50, 163/4/6, 167/8/9, 177, 184/5, 188/9, 410/11/20 & 414. Services 134, 139, 143, 148, 170, 182, 192 will be withdrawn and there will be new services 156, 159, 186 & 187.

  • Service Changes in Huddersfield - First Huddersfield are making changes to Services 305, 306, 309, 312/5, 317, 321/3/4, 327, 328, 341, 342, 387 & 395.  Services 356 & 358/9 will be withdrawn. Service 301/2 will return to the pre-summer frequency but service 372 will continue to operate to a reduced frequency with minor times changes

  • OTHER CHANGES

  • Arriva Yorkshire: There will be minor changes to services 111/113, 112/122, 121, 128, 152/3, 195/6/7, 203, 205, 212, 219/229, 254, 284, 443, 485, X44

  • First Halifax: Services 343/4, 505/6, 510-514, 520, 521, 522/3/4, 526, 539, 542, 546, 554, 556, 557, 559, 566 & 567 will be revised

  • First Leeds: There will be minor retimings on Pink Line services 18/18A

  • K-Line: Service 319 has a minor timetable change

  • M Travel: A revised timetable will be introduced on service 134

  • Yorkshire Traction: There will be a revised timetable on services 244, 245, 248 & 249

Service 328A Balmoral Avenue - Huddersfield - Bradley Circular, This is a new service operating every 30 minutes

Sunday 14th August 2005: (Burnley & Pendle)

The Mainline Services 20/21/22/23/24/25 Keighley - Colne - Burnley - Padiham/Accrington, Service numbers 22, 23 & 24 are no longer used on services from Keighley. There are minor timetable changes with some journeys running with different service numbers. The sunday service now runs as service 22 instead of service 23 from Keighley. Journeys towards Keighley which are all numbered 25 are unchanged

Summer Holiday Bus Timetables in Leeds
Monday 1st August to Wednesday 31st August 2005
Summer’s here - school’s out, the holiday season has started and fewer cars are travelling at rush hour on the roads. This reduction in congestion can mean that a bus journey can be made up to 20 minutes quicker than at other times of the year. This means that on Monday to Fridays throughout August, First are introducing a Summer timetable on the following routes across Leeds: 4, 16, 33/33A, 40, 46, 49, 50/50A, 53, 55, 56, 74/74A, 94, 97/97A & X84.

The Withdrawal of Black Prince and Leeds Suburban Buses services
From Sunday 31st July 2005  
Black Prince and Leeds Suburban Buses' last day of service will be Saturday 30th July 2005. From the following date services will in the main transfer to First. There will be major service changes on most routes. These are as follows:

Services 53A, 54, 420, 421, 424, 751, 752, X49 & X51 will be withdrawn with alternative services provided by First
Services 53, 87 & 88 will now be operated by
First with revised routes and timetables
Services 90/90A & 781 will now be operated by
First with only a very minor change in the route or timetable
Service 770 will now be operated by
Harrogate & District with a slightly revised timetable. Journeys will now continue to/from Harrogate

  • MAIN HEADLINES

  • New Overground Magenta Line in Leeds - Services 52/52A will be withdrawn with services 51/51A now increasing to run as a frequent service between Moor Allerton, Leeds and Morley. These services will now be the Magenta Line as part of the Leeds Overground

  • First Leeds Other Major Changes - There will be changes to services 4, 8, 13/13A, 18/18A, 44, 46, 55, 61, 64, 74/74A, 86 & 94. There will be new services 68/68A Leeds to Scholes circulars, 78 Colton to Seacroft, 85 Leeds to Morley via Middleton, East Ardsley and Tingley & 87A Leeds to Morley via Middleton, White Rose and Cottingley. As mentioned above, services 53, 87, 88, 90 & 90A will now be run by First. Services 4A, 22, 22A, 24, 65 and 75/75A will be withdrawn. 

  • White Rose Express Withdrawn - Service X30 between Leeds and Sheffield will be withdrawn between Barnsley and Sheffield. Yorkshire Traction will also make minor changes to services 233 & X62

  • Trafford Centre Bus Withdrawn - Service M60 hasn't proved a success and will be withdrawn. First Halifax will introduce a partial replacment. Service 561 will extend from Rishworth direct to the Trafford Centre every 2 hours on Saturdays Only.

  • Changes to the Calder Valley services - Overground Green Line services 590-595 will be revised and low floor buses will be introduced. There will also be new service 596. First Halifax will also make changes to services 500 & 589 in the Calder Valley and Overground Yellow Line 542 in Halifax.

  • OTHER CHANGES

  • Arriva Yorkshire: Minor changes to services 111, 113, 221, 226, 254, 283, 284, 402, 403, 412, 413, 496, 498 & X25. Service 171 will be withdrawn and there will be a new service 215 between Dewsbury and Headfield Road.

  • B L Travel: Services 223 & 224 will receive a revised timetable.

  • First Bradford: Minor timetable changes to services 610, 614 & 681

  • Halifax Joint Committee: Services 28A, 34, 36 & 509 will receive a revised timetable. Service 505A will be withdrawn

  • Pegasus: Otley MetroConnect services 940-944 will be revised. Service 944 will be withdrawn and there will be a new service 946

  • Stringers: Service 499 & 500 will receive a minor alteration and service 502 will be withdrawn

  • TLC Travel: Saturday and Sunday journeys on MetroConnect service MC1 will be withdrawn

  • Utopia Mini Coaches: Service 923 will be revised with a new route and a new timetable

New MetroConnect Service 909 Ripponden - Barkisland - Elland, This is a new MetroConnect rural taxibus service, operating hourly as a flexible off peak service. On Saturdays buses will run on a fixed route and extend to/from Brighouse via Cromwell Bottom

New MetroConnect Service 910 Ripponden - Sowerby Bridge, This is a new MetroConnect rural taxibus service operating at peak times providing a service to/from Sowerby Bridge Railway Station. Journeys start/finish beyond Ripponden in Rishworth or Soyland on a demand responsive basis

New MetroConnect Service 912 Stainland - Sowerby Bridge, This is a new MetroConnect rural taxibus service operating at peak times providing a service to/from Sowerby Bridge Railway Station. Journeys start/finish beyond Stainland in Holywell Green or Sowood on a demand responsive basis

Sunday 29th May 2005: (First Bradford)

Overground Blue Line 607 Holme Wood-Bradford-Thornton, Services from Holme Wood to Thornton have a revised route in Bradford City Centre. The route is now Hall Ings, Bank Street, Broadway serving a new stop and then onto Sunbridge Road as present

Services 622/623/625/626 Scholes/Brighouse - Wyke - Bradford - Shipley - Eldwick/Baildon, Due to the closure of Petergate these services have a revised route in Bradford City Centre. Buses now run via Bridge Street, Market Street, Cheapside and then as previously, observing a new bus stop on Cheapside

Service 680 Bradford-Smiddles Lane, Due to the closure of Petergate buses now run to/from Bradford Interchange and operate via Bridge Street, Market Street, Cheapside and then as previously

Services 610, 611, 612, 613, 614, 627, Orange Line 636/637, Red Line 640/641, Green Line 645/646, 647, 657, 658, 659, 670, 675, 677, 682 & 846 will also have a new route in Bradford City Centre. Operating to/from Market Street, buses will now run via New Kirkgate and then via Canal Road, Bolton Road or Church Bank depending on the route of the service. This is due to the closure of the lower half of Cheapside

Sunday 29th May 2005: (Pegasus)

MetroConnect Service 737 Bradford-Shipley-Leeds Bradford Airport, Due to the closure of the lower half of Cheapside, there will be a revised route in Bradford City Centre. Between Market Street and Canal Road buses will now run via New Kirkgate

Thursday 26th May 2005: (EasiRider Bus Company)

Services 308A, 324A, 356A & 357, EasiRider are now known as FairRider. There are no changes to routes or times

  • Arriva Yorkshire Heavy Woollen area Service Relaunch - Major changes to Arriva Yorkshire services in the Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike and Dewsbury areas to make the network meet the needs of passengers in the 21st Century. The changes will lead to less service numbers providing a simpler network. Services 201, 206, 210, 211, 215, 217, 218, 228, 251, 252, 255, 258, 259, 274, 279, 280, 282 & 995 will be withdrawn. There will be a new service 213 and remaining services 128, 202, 203, 205, 207, 208, 209, 212,  214, 219, 220, 221, 224, 225, 226, 227, 229, 253, 254, 256, 268, 278, 281, 283, 284 & X24 will receive new routes, frequencies and timetables

  • New Harrogate to Airport service - Harrogate & District will introduce a new service 767 operating from Harrogate to Leeds Bradford Airport every 90 minutes. There will also be changes on services 36 and X59. Poorly used service 60 will be withdrawn

  • Airedale Shuttle Relaunch - The Airedale Shuttle service 662 between Bradford and Keighley operated by Keighley & District will be relaunched as "The Shuttle" with brand new low floor buses and changes to the timetable. Mainly as a knock on effect to this change there will be other minor changes. Early morning 663/664/665 buses from the Worth Valley will no longer run to/from Bradford, as well as other minor changes on services 68A, 78A, 696/697/698, 712, 760, 762 & 765

  • Changes to Sherburn area stationlink buses - Service SV5 to Micklefield station operated by OZ Travel and service SST4 to Knottingley station operated by Shaws Coaches will both be withdrawn. In their place are new services 490, 495 and changes to services 491/492/493 all operated by Arriva Yorkshire. There will also be changes to services 402, 403, 476 and a new service 406 in the far east of the county

  • Arriva Yorkshire (Wakefield): Minor changes to services 121, 153 & X16.

  • First Halifax: Changes to services 502, 520, 526, 531, 542, 546, 554, 573, 574, 577, 579, M60 & M62

  • First Huddersfield: Changes to services 306, 309-316, 327, 352, 370, 371, 372, 380, 381 & X41

  • First Leeds: Minor changes to services 2, 2B, 3/3A, 12, 13/13A, 18/18A, 22, 24, 35, 44/44A, 45, 47, 62, 63/63C, 64, 65, 67, 71, 81A, 90, 99/X98, X11 & X14

  • Halifax Joint Committee: Services 306, 342, 349, 376 and most of service 505A will be withdrawn. HJC will now run Dewsbury Sainsburys service 995 as well as a new one journey each way service X79 between Halifax and Dewsbury. There will also be minor changes to services 34, 36, 392 & 509. 

  • Stotts: Services H5, H6, H8, H9, H10 & short journeys on service H2 will now run on Thursdays only 

  • Stringers: Stringers journeys on services 492 & 493 will be withdrawn. There will also be changes to services 499, 500, 501 & 502. 

  • Yorkshire Traction: Changes to services 58, 59, 84, 211, 244, 245, 246, 248, 249 & 262. Services 52/53 will now be operated by B-Line Travel who will inturn withdraw their own service 52A

Service 562 Halifax - Oldham, This service now extends from Oldham to Royton replacing service 413 in the Oldham area. Buses now also run via Pennine Meadows in Denshaw, New times. The 0653 from Halifax now runs 8 minutes earlier at 0645

Service 205 Dewsbury - Northorpe - Mirfield, A revised timetable has been introduced with journeys operating five minutes earlier

Service 63A Headingley Eden Drive - Leeds - Temple Newsam, Summer service to Temple Newsam is introduced and will run until Sunday 30th October

New Metro Connect Service 908 Colne Valley Taxibus, This is a new service operating from Outlane to Slaithwaite via either Scapegoat Hill or Wilberlee every hour connecting with local trains and buses at each end and connecting rural communities

Peak Bus Services 61/61A Huddersfield/Holmfirth - Peak District, The summer sunday services commence and will run until 30th October

  • Changes to the White Rose Express - Service X32 operated by Yorkshire Traction is withdrawn and replaced by service X30 which will now run via Hoyland and Chapeltown between Barnsley and Meadowhall

  • Stringers network grows - Stringers new bus network continues to grow with new service 502 between Castleford and Garforth. Services 499, 500 & 501 also have a revised timetable

  • New timetable for service X6 - First Bradford service X6 receives a new timetable to improve reliability. Also service 72 will now be all operated by First Bradford and there are minor changes to service 680

  • Further changes & cuts to Arriva services - There are widespread changes to Arriva Yorkshire services yet again in the Wakefield and Castleford areas.
