Summer’s here - school’s out, the holiday season
has started and fewer cars are travelling at rush hour on the roads. This reduction in congestion can mean that
a bus journey can be made up to 20 minutes quicker than at other times of the year.
This means that on Monday to Fridays throughout August, First are introducing a Summer timetable on
the following routes across Leeds: 1, 14, 16/16A, 28, 33/33A, 42, 46, 49, 50/50A,
51/51A, 55, 56, 60, 61, 63/63A, 66, 67, 74/74A, 81/81A, 91/91A, 96, 97,

service has been reinstated running two return journeys only on a trial basis

Operators involved are
Arriva Yorkshire, First Bradford, First Calderdale, First Huddersfield, First Leeds,
First Manchester, J.R.T, Ryburn Taxibus, South Yorkshire Motors, TJ Walsh,
TLC Travel, Tyrer Bus and Yorkshire Traction.
MAIN HEADLINES
Major changes in
Wakefield - Arriva Yorkshire
are making major changes to
services in the Wakefield area. Services effected are 100, 101, 102, 104, 110,
114, 116, 117, 119, 120, 173, 174, 175, 181, 425, 427,
443, 444, 448, 481, 496, 498, X7, X15, X16, X17, X41 & X46. Many
services will receive revised routes, timetables and frequencies. Services
103, 108, 109, 111, 112, 113, 115, 118, 121, 122, 422, 446, 482, 483 &
X48 will all be withdrawn. New services 103, 105, 106, 107 will be
introduced. Also in the Castleford area services 156, 159, 163/4/6, 167/8/9,
184/5/6 & 187/8/9 will receive revised timetables at peak times.
Services 410, 411, 420 will receive a revised timetable
Service
M62 axed - Service M62
operated by First Calderdale
between Halifax, Brighouse, White Rose Centre and Leeds will be withdrawn as
the revenue generated by this service does not cover costs. This will leave
a major gap in the interurban service network
Cross
boundary service axed - Service 562
operated by First Calderdale
and First Manchester
between Halifax and Oldham will be withdrawn due to lack of demand. Extra
journeys on service 561 will cover the route between Halifax and Rishworth
Saturday buses withdrawn -
The Saturday extensions to the Trafford Centre on Service 561 and service M1
to Meadowhall and Sheffield operated by First
in Calderdale and Huddersfield will be
withdrawn
New FreeCityBus - A
new circular service will be introduced in Leeds City Centre. Buses will run
every 6 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes and will be operated by
First Leeds. The service will be free to all
passengers
Changes in Huddersfield - There
will be various network changes on First
Huddersfield buses to create a more sustainable
network. Services 301/2 & 306 will receive reduced frequencies. Services
321/4 will be revised with new service 325. Service 373 will be withdrawn
with services 343/344, 537/8 & 539 being altered to cover. There will be
minor changes on service 314 & 382.
Changes in Halifax - Due
to the closure of Westgate there will be a revised route on First
Calderdale services 510-4, 520, 522-4, 556/7/9.
Services 510-514, 520, 526, 542 & 576 will also receive a revised
timetable
Revised Services in Leeds - First
Leeds will be making various minor changes
across the Leeds service network. Services effected are the 1, 18/18A, 28,
33/33A, 44/44A, 46, 51/51A, 55, 61, 62, 63/63C, 64, 74/74A, 85, 86, 87/87A,
90/90A, 91/91A, 92, 95, 96, 97/97A & 757.
OTHER CHANGES
Arriva Yorkshire West: There
will be minor route or timetable changes on services 128, 202/3, 205, 207/8,
209/19/29, 221, 253, 268 & 278
First Bradford: There
will be minor times changes on services 620 & 680
J.R.T/Ryburn Taxibus:
Evening and Sunday journeys on service 335 will pass from J.R.T to Ryburn
Taxibus. Journeys will now divert off route on a demand responsive basis at
these times.
South Yorkshire
Motors: A new service 489 between
Pontefract and Chequerfield will be introduced
T.J Walsh: Due
to the closure of Westgate in Halifax Town Centre, Services 400, 525, 555,
600 & 700 will receive a revised route within the town centre. There are
no changes to the timetables
TLC Travel: Service
MC3 will receive a revised route and timetable. On Monday to Fridays
additional journeys will extend to/from the Euroway Trading Estate while on
Saturdays the service will extend to Asda at Bierley
Tyrer Bus: On
service M6 the 0637 from Scar Top and 0647 from Haworth will be withdrawn
Yorkshire Traction: Certain
journeys on Services 231/232 and all journeys on service 240 will receive a
revised route in Fenay Bridge to serve a new housing development. Due to low
customer demand evening and sunday journeys on services 237/239 will be
withdrawn
Service 149 Wakefield - Pontefract -
Knottingley, On Monday to Friday 0745 journey from Wakefield now operates via
New Sharlston and Streethouse
Monday
9th January 2006: (Hodgsons)
New Keighley "aKtivehoppa", This
is a new service which will operate around Keighley leisure venues every Monday
to Friday afternoon and early evening. Two routes will be operated on a half
hourly basis
Sunday
8th January 2006: (Stagecoach in Hull)
Service X62 Leeds - Junction 32 Outlet -
Hull, A Sunday journey was introduced on this route

Services 58/59 Wakefield - Newmillerdam -
Barnsley, Due to the reconstruction of Barnsley Interchange, a revised route
within Barnsley Town Centre is introduced on these services
Service 235 Huddersfield - Kirkburton -
Barnsley, Due to the reconstruction of Barnsley Interchange, a revised route
within Barnsley Town Centre is introduced on this service
Services 244/245 Pontefract - Hemsworth -
Barnsley, Due to the reconstruction of Barnsley Interchange, a revised route
within Barnsley Town Centre is introduced on these services
Service 246 Pontefract - Hemsworth -
Barnsley, Due to the reconstruction of Barnsley Interchange, a revised route
within Barnsley Town Centre is introduced on these services. Buses now arrive at
Barnsley Interchange 2 minutes later
Service 247 Upton - Hemsworth - Barnsley,
Due to the reconstruction of Barnsley Interchange, a revised route within
Barnsley Town Centre is introduced on these services. Buses now arrive at
