HALIFAX BUS STATION CHANGES
Metro have announced stand changes at Halifax Bus Station to improve safety from Sunday 27th January. Stands A2 and A3 will now be for Alighting Only, Stand A6 will now be no longer used, Stand A7 will now be used for coaches only. Buses from Stand A2 will move to B1, Buses from Stand A3 will move to B2, Buses from Stand A6 will move to C4, Buses from Stand A7 (School Services) will move to E2. Buses from Stand B1 will move to A1, Buses from Stand B2 will move to C1, Buses from Stand C1 will move to D2, Buses from Stand D1 will move to D2 and vica versa. Service 227 will move from Stand B4 to C3. Other stands are unchanged 

LEEDS CITY CENTRE CHANGES
From Sunday 27th January there will be changes to bus stops in Leeds City Centre. This will effect services that use Wellington Street due to the construction of the Lumiere Towers. Megabus will move to Leeds City Bus Station Bay 1, Other services will move around to new stops in the area

FIRST FARES & TICKET INCREASE
Fares and ticket prices are increasing across West Yorkshire on First services from Sunday 6th January. For full details click here.

METRO DAYROVER PRICE INCREASE
From Wednesday 2nd January 2008, the price of a Metro DayRover will increase. The changes are as follows:
Adult Bus Only: £4 to £4.50, Adult Train Only: £4.50 to £5, Adult Train & Bus: £5 to £5.50, Concessionary Train Only: £2.25 to £2.50, Family DayRover: £7.50 to £8

METROCARD PRICE INCREASE
The cost of MetroCard, Student Plus MetroCard and School Plus MetroCard also increased from 2nd January 2008. Increases are between 8% and 9%. Full updated details are shown on the tickets and fares page 

BRISTOL OLYMPIANS TO BRADFORD
First Bradford are in the process of receiving a number of Leyland Olympian/Northern Counties from First Bristol. Arrived so far are K606/8/9LAE

CHRISTMAS PARK & RIDE
The Christmas Saturday Park and Ride services will operate again in Leeds this year. Service 555 will operate from Burley Road to The Headrow, Service 888 will operate from Woodhouse Moor to The Headrow. Buses will run every 10 minutes from 0930 to 1820 on Saturdays 17th, 24th November and 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd December. First Leeds will operate the services

LATE NIGHT BUSES IN LEEDS
Special late night buses are to operate again in Leeds this year, funded by 'Safer Leeds' and operated by First Leeds. The routes that will operate are: 2 - Leeds to Roundhay Park, 12 Leeds to Middleton, 16 Leeds to Bramley & 51 Leeds to Morley. All services will depart from Leeds Station Interchange and a flat fare of £2 will be charged. The services will run on the following dates Friday/Saturday 30 Nov/1 Dec, 7/8, 14/15, 21/22 Dec, Christmas Eve Mon 24 Dec and New Year's Eve Mon 31 Dec

LOW FLOOR BUSES FOR HOLMFIRTH
Low floor minibuses are to be introduced on the Holme Valley minibus services operated by Stotts. 2 Optare Solo Slimlines will be introduced from December, a new contract has been awarded to Stotts to operate the network for the next 5 years.

BOXING DAY BUSES
Buses will operate this year on Boxing Day in West Yorkshire, the first time in over 10 years. Half hourly frequencies will be operated on core corridors into Leeds and Huddersfield operated by First and Arriva. Service X6 via Bradford and 503 to Halifax and the Huddersfield FreeTownBus will also run. Metro are funding the trial, hoping they will be successful so the operators will be able to operate the services commercially in future years. Services to operate will be routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 12, 13, 16, 18, 33, 37, 40, 42, 49, 50, 51, 56, 71, 96, 110, 202/3, 229, 443/4, 301, 306, 316, 324, 328, 352, 371, 372, 503, 757, X6 & FTB

NEW HOLMFIRTH DAY TICKET
In conjunction with changes to Holmfirth Connection Services 309-316 (see Bus Changes section), a new all operator day ticket will be introduced in the Holme Valley. Costing £2.50 the ticket is valid as far as Honley, Meltham and New Mill on all services operated by First, Stotts Coaches, K Line, Ryburn Taxibus, Arriva and Stagecoach

FURTHER BMC CONDORS DUE
A further final batch of around 20 BMC Condor school buses are due to enter service during the next few months to replace high floor BMC vehicles. The buses will enter service with First Huddersfield, Rollinson Safeway, CT Plus and Stagecoach Yorkshire

MYBUS CONTRACT CHANGES
Godsons and Geldards have given up their MyBus services. From September 2007 the services and vehicles will now be operated by CT Plus and Rollinson Safeway

FAIRRIDER LOSES LICENCE
FairRider (also trading as Paul's Travel) have had their operating licence revoked by the traffic commissioner. A catalogue of vehicle and driver offences has come to light. They will cease trading on or before the 19th September. Metro are currently organising emergency contracts to take on their tendered services

SERVICE 500 IMPROVEMENTS
From September service 500 will pass from First to Keighley & District. The service will be improved to operate hourly 7 days a week but will now only run between Keighley and Hebden Bridge. Keighley & District will use Volvo B10BLEs on the service

INDEPENDENTS EXPAND
In Huddersfield, FairRider and Stotts Coaches are to take over some services currently operated by Stagecoach Yorkshire. Meanwhile in the Wakefield area, South Yorkshire Motors, M Travel and BL Travel are all expanding with new routes and increased frequencies. See the Bus Changes page for details

NEW BUSES FOR FIRST
The new Volvo B7RLE/Wight Eclipse Urban's have started to enter service with First Bradford. Also a batch of Wright Eclipse Gemini double decks have started to arrive in Leeds. They are due to be operated by Cherry Row depot

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY BUS CHANGES
On Monday 7th May and Monday 28th May, a sunday service will operate. Services 36 (HJC), 205 (Longstaffs), 376 & 403 will operate to their Bank Holiday timetables. Service 767 and the York AirCoach will run a normal service. Weekend fare arrangements will apply

WAKEFIELD FREE CITY BUS
The contract to operate the Wakefield Free City Bus has been awarded to Star Travel. 3 of the current Leeds Free City Bus vehicles will be transferred onto this new service, with Leeds getting 3 brand new larger Solos. The service starts on Monday 23rd April 2007

EASTER BUS CHANGES
Good Friday 6th April
- A Saturday service except for First Bradford, First Leeds, Harrogate & District, Stagecoach Yorkshire and Yorkshire Coastliner who will run a normal Friday service. First in Halifax will not run service 517. Weekend fare arrangements will apply
Saturday 7th April - Normal Saturday service
Easter Sunday 8th April - Normal sunday service. Summer services and Dalesbus will commence, see the Bus Changes page

FIRST TICKET PRICE INCREASES
First have increased the price of their tickets. FirstDay West Yorkshire has now increased from £3.30 to £3.50, with the kids FirstDay Out increased by 10p to £1.50 and is now available all day. FirstWeek which costs £14 (this is a £1 increase in Leeds) is now available on all First services in West Yorkshire. The Off Peak FirstDay's in Leeds and Halifax/Huddersfield have also increased by 20p, to £2.50 and £3.00 respectively. The Leeds FirstWeek Green is now £8.50. FirstMonth and FirstYear tickets have also increased

MY BUS TENDER WINNERS
The tender results of the final part of the Metro MyBus yellow school bus project has been announced. This covers 21 buses in the Bradford and Calderdale areas. The buses will be allocated to, First Bradford (1 bus), First Halifax (8 buses), City Travel of Bradford (7 buses), Halifax Joint Committee (4 buses) and Keighley & District (3 buses). Besides First, these are all new operators to the MyBus scheme. The BMC Condors will be entering service before July

NEW SOLOS FOR ACCESSBUS
Optare have won the contract to supply Metro with 7 Optare Solo SEs for AccessBus services. The vehicles are due to enter service this year and will replace the last of the older Mercedes Benz minbuses with rear wheelchair lifts, meaning all Accessbuses will be low floor. The 7 buses will be operated by TLC Travel of Bradford, CT Plus of Leeds and B.L. Travel of Wakefield

FARE INCREASE
Fares on First and Arriva buses are to increase from Sunday 7th January. On First the off peak maximum will increase to £1.60 and the peak maximum to £2.10. On Arriva most fares will increase by 10p but the off peak maximum will be scrapped, meaning peak fares will be charged at all times

FIRST NEW BUSES
FirstGroup have announced their order of new buses for 2007. Due for West Yorkshire are 40 double deckers and 15 single deckers for Bradford and 30 double deckers for Leeds. All buses will be Volvo/Wrights

FTR LAUNCH DELAYED
The launch of the "ftr" vehicles on service 4 in Leeds will now be delayed until 2007. The new vehicles will also have a phased introduction to try and avoid initial problems which were suffered in York

FIRST LOSES SERVICE 900
From January 2007 the tender for rural service 900 between Huddersfield and Ripponden will pass from First Huddersfield to K-Line

PEGASUS HAVE CEASED TRADING
From end of service on Saturday 4th November Pegasus have ceased trading. Services 960/1/2/4 are being covered by First Leeds, 967 by First Bradford and services 940-3/6 by K-Line

SERVICE X33 TO BE AXED
Arriva Yorkshire are to axe service X33 during the early part of 2007. The service operates from Bradford to Sheffield via Dewsbury, Wakefield, Barnsley and Meadowhall. Arriva blame the improved rail service that operates between Barnsley and Sheffield. This follows the withdrawal of the X30 service from Leeds by Yorkshire Traction back in April  

ARRIVA LOWLANDERS ARE NAMED
Arriva Yorkshire West's new VDL East Lancs Myllenium Lowlanders have all been named. Examples include 1600 which is "White Rose" and 1601 which is "Pride of Leeds". A full list will be provided when known

MORE NEW BUSES FOR ARRIVA YORKSHIRE
Arriva Yorkshire are currently receiving a batch 9 VDL Wright Commanders. They are to be based at Belle Isle depot and are numbered 1400-1408 

MORE BMC CONDORS IN SERVICE
First West Yorkshire are currently receiving a new large batch of BMC Condors for Metro MyBus services. They are numbered from 68649 up to at least 68672

FIRST TAKES OVER 737 CONTRACT
First Bradford have taken over the Metro Connect 737 contract from Pegasus who asked to be relieved of the contract. Three Optare Solos have passed to First, YJ54BVA/BVB/BVC are now numbered 53301-3. The service will be revised from the 30th October

CT PLUS WINS PHASE 3 MYBUS CONTRACT
London based CT Plus have won an additional MyBus school bus contract. Following the initial contract won in Wakefield, CT Plus have now gained an additional 25 buses worth of work, which will start in the Leeds area next year. CT Plus are now thought to be looking for an additional depot to be the base for this work

HUDDERSFIELD FREETOWNBUS
Following the success of the Leeds FreeCityBus, a similar service is to be introduced in Huddersfield. The service will start on the 30th October and will be operated by K-Line using 2 MetroConnect branded Optare Solos

LEEDS ACCESSBUS
School bus operator CT Plus is to take over the Leeds area Accessbus contract from First Leeds from the 1st October. The Accessbus vehicles currently operated by First will also pass to CT Plus

ARRIVA YORKSHIRE TO RECEIVE NEW BUSES
Arriva Yorkshire West at Dewsbury are to receive 14 new DAF/East Lancs double deckers this summer. These are the first new double deckers to arrive since 2002. They are to be used on services 202/203 between Huddersfield and Leeds. These new buses will allow the last Leyland Olympians to be withdrawn

GEMINIS ON DELIVERY
First Bradford and First Leeds are currently receiving 48 Volvo B7TL/Wright Eclipse Geminis. Those that have been delivered so far can be found on the relevant fleetlist pages. The last 7 of First Bradford's batch are due to receive a special First Express X6 livery

FTR LAUNCH
The First York "ftr" service launched on Monday 8th May. Full details of these vehicles are now available on the First York fleetlist

QUICKSTEP TRAVEL CLOSURE
As mentioned on the Bus Changes page, the First Quickstep unit closed on Saturday 22nd April. All buses and services (those which wern't withdrawn) transferred to the main First Leeds operation at Kirkstall

EVEN MORE BMC SCHOOLBUSES DUE
Metro have announced that all Phase 1 BMC schoolbuses are to be replaced by BMC Condor yellow schoolbuses. Meaning a fleet of 150 will be operated by the end of Phase 3. These Phase 1 high floor schoolbuses are to be sold to FirstGroup. 10 will stay in the Halifax and Huddersfield area and be used on non-Mybus school services, the other 20 will be operated by First elsewhere in the UK

CT PLUS HAVE COMMENCED OPERATION
London based CT Plus have commenced there Yorkshire school bus operation. They are initially operating 3 BMC Condors on MyBus services S50/S51/S52 in the Wakefield and Castleford area

THE FTR IS COMING!
FirstGroup's new "FTR" articulated tram style buses will shortly be entering service on Service 4 in York. Later in the year a batch will arrive for Leeds entering service on Service 4 operated by Bramley depot

NEW BUSES COMING SOON
First Bradford are due to be receiving some new Volvo B7TL double deckers this Spring. They are understood to be to upgrade services X6 and 72. Arriva Yorkshire West are also rumoured to be due some new vehicles soon. First Halifax are to receive 2 new Optare Solos for MetroConnect Todmorden which will be relaunched at the end of April. 

MORE GEMINIS FOR COASTLINER
Entering service now are 6 brand new Volvo B7TL Wright Eclipse Geminis for Yorkshire Coastliner. These will replace Coastliner's last standard floor buses, the W reg Volvo Olympian/Alexander Royales which have been sold to FirstGroup. The 3 Plaxton Presidents are also currently being repainted meaning this summer all Coastliner's fleet will be low floor and in the latest livery

MYBUS LATEST
Yet more BMC school buses are due to enter service on Metro's MyBus Yellow school bus network shortly. A further 29 are to enter service with FirstGroup, 3 for K-Line and 15 for new operator CT Plus which will operate MyBus services in the Wakefield district

SERVICES TO BE WITHDRAWN
Scenic cross boundary service 562 between Halifax and Oldham will be withdrawn from Sunday 29th January 2006. Also to be withdrawn are services 561 to the Trafford Centre and service M1 to Meadowhall and Sheffield

BREAKING NEWS


It was announced on Thursday 15th December that Stagecoach has acquired the Yorkshire Traction group in a £26 million deal. This includes the West Yorkshire operation based in Huddersfield. This is the first time that Stagecoach has had a major operation on the streets of West Yorkshire. More details, such as what fleetname Stagecoach will use will be revealed in due course. SERVICE M62 TO BE AXED
Express service M62 between Halifax and Leeds will be withdrawn from January 29th. Despite the service being popular with commuters and shoppers, First say the service does not make a profit. This will leave many parts of the area without a bus to the White Rose Centre or a fast link to Leeds

ARRIVA TO CUT SERVICES AGAIN
Arriva Yorkshire are to axe many unprofitable routes yet again. The changes which are thought to come into place at the end of January 2006 will see various services withdrawn in the Wakefield area

HALIFAX & HUDDERSFIELD FARES INCREASE
The price of local FirstDay and FirstWeek/Month/Year tickets will increase in Halifax and Huddersfield from 29th October

Green Line 590-595 between Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, along with service 589 was converted to low floor operation using new Volvo B7RLE and B7TL buses from Saturday 20th August. The final 6 Gemini double deckers that were on loan to First Eastern Counties have now arrived in Halifax

BLACK PRINCE
The last day of operation of Black Prince services in Leeds will be Saturday 30th July. From the following day First (Leeds) will take over services and some buses. SUMMER SPECIALS
First Halifax and Huddersfield will be operating a range of special summer services to Lightwater Valley, Chester and Meadowhall & Sheffield during this year's school summer holidays. NEW TAXIBUS SERVICE
A new rural taxibus service will shortly commence in the Calderdale area. It will run from Ripponden to Elland with journeys on Saturdays extending to/from Brighouse

The local bus operator in the Huddersfield area has been renamed. Most vehicles carry the new fleetname

SOUTH YORKSHIRE RETURNS
From Monday 4th July the name 'South Yorkshire' will be back on the streets of Pontefract. A new company will commence operation on service 487 from Knottingley to Chequerfield

66759-66763 (YJ05VVA-E) are now in service in Halifax, the first two are branded for the Sky Blue Line 521. 66764-66775 are now in service in Huddersfield, the first four are branded for the Purple Line 350/351/352. 66772-4 are branded for the Lime Line 328. 66776+ are now being delivered to First Halifax

BANK HOLIDAY BUS ARRANGEMENTS
A sunday service will operate on Bank Holiday Mondays 2nd and 30th May. Services 403 & 476 will operate to a special timetable. Halifax Joint Committee will be operating their new bank holiday timetables.

MORE SCHOOL BUSES IN SERVICE
Metro MyBus branded BMC school buses are now in service. A selection of school services in Huddersfield operated by First and a selection in Wakefield operated by First (Huddersfield) and Yorkshire Traction (Shafton) have now been converted to yellow bus operation.

A SMALL PRICE TO PAY
From Sunday 3rd April the concessionary fare increases from 30p to 35p in West Yorkshire. At the same time the afternoon peak restriction between 1500 and 1800 will be withdrawn for concessionary passengers

FARES INCREASE
From Sunday 3rd April, the 40p single fare on First buses in Bradford and Leeds will increase to 50p. No other fares will change

COLNE VALLEY TAXIBUS SERVICE
A new taxibus service will commence on Monday 28th March. The service will run from Outlane to Slaithwaite. Two Renault Master minibuses operated by Ryburn Taxibus will operate the service

SCHOOL BUSES
Many more BMC School buses are entering service on routes in the Halifax, Todmorden and Bradford areas. 

SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT
Lime Line service 576 between Halifax and Bradford is now something to shout about every 10 minutes. The service was converted to low floor Gemini operation from Saturday 5th February. At least Gemini's 32527-32530 are route branded.

BLACK PRINCE TO BE SOLD
Black Prince's services are to be sold to First Leeds. The sale depends on approval by the office of fair trading.

SINGLE DECKERS ON THE WAY
The first of 56 Volvo B7RLE Wright Eclipse Urban single deckers are starting to arrive in the county. They will be numbered 66738 upwards. Meanwhile in York they are receiving a batch of five numbered 69000 upwards. York's own 66711-5 will then move to Leeds

FARES INCREASE
From Saturday 12th February the price of FirstDay will increase to £2.80 and the Off Peak Maximum fare on First West Yorkshire will increase to £1.30. There are other price changes to tickets in the Calderdale and Huddersfield area but all other single fares remain unchanged 

FORMER LONDON BUSES FOR HECKMONDWIKE
Arriva Yorkshire Heckmondwike are currently receiving a batch of East Lancs bodied Volvo Olympians from Arriva London South. Details of those in service so far are shown on the Arriva Yorkshire fleetlist page

The 508 between Halifax and Leeds was converted to low floor Gemini operation from Wednesday 8th December

WINTER DALESBUS SERVICES
Service 806 to Grassington will operate one hour earlier than timetabled on Saturdays 4th and 11th December. Details of what services are running to the dales this year are shown on the Bus Changes page.

BARBIE 2 LIVERY DROPPED
FirstGroup have made yet another change to their livery policy and dropped the secondary 'Barbie 2' livery. From now on buses will receive an ammended version of Barbie 1. First WY vehicles are gradually receiving this scheme

NEW LINK TO THE TRAFFORD CENTRE
First are introducing new service M60 which will run on Saturdays from Bradford via Halifax and Manchester to the Trafford Centre

First Huddersfield service 365 will be withdrawn and replaced by service 184 which will be run jointly with First Manchester. Buses will run through to/from Manchester with new times. 

RAIL CHANGES
From Sunday 12th December there will be major changes to West Yorkshire's rail network. Many routes will have new times full details will be available shortly

NEW METROCONNECT SERVICES
Two new services will be introduced on the 1st November. Service MC3 operated by TLC Travel will run in the Bradford area and service MC4 operated by First will run in the Elland area. Services T1-9 in Todmorden will now also be branded MetroConnect with revised times.

BUSES ON LOAN TO ARRIVA
To cover for a maintenance backlog, five Volvo Olympians are currently on loan to Arriva Yorkshire at Heckmondwike

NEW AIRLINK SERVICE & A NEW OPERATOR
Airlink Service 757 operated by Aztecbird will now be operated by First Leeds with no changes to the route or times. Aztecbird will introduce new Airlink service 737 from Bradford via Shipley and Guiseley which will run every 30 minutes.
