UPDATES AND RECENT FLEET CHANGES:

Fleetlist Updated 15/04/07 Recent Fleet Changes:

150133 has gone on long term loan to Silverlink

150228, 150268-150277 have been repainted from Regional Railways livery to Northern livery. These were the only units to still retain Regional Railways livery
155341/2, 155345-7 have been repainted from Old MetroTrain livery into Northern livery with West Yorkshire Metro advertising. The units have also been refurbished
321901-321903 have been repainted from Old MetroTrain livery into a hybrid Northern/Metro dark blue and red livery. The units have also been refurbished

Northern have managed to secure an additional 30 class 158s, this being in addition to the 6 funded by Yorkshire Forward which arrived last year
158791/7 have been transferred from Transpennine Express. They are ex-Central Trains units and carry Central Trains livery
158842-845, 158848-851, 158853 have been transferred to Northern from Arriva Trains Wales. 158842/3 carry defunct Wales and Borders livery, the rest carry Central Trains livery
158859-861 have been transferred to Northern from First Great Western. They carry the defunct Wessex Trains Alphaline livery

An additional 5 units are due shortly from First Scotrail and First Great Western, an additional 11 units are due from First Great Western in December. All the extra 158s are being based at former Arriva Trains Northern depots Neville Hill and Heaton

These additional units will mean 24 class 142 'Pacers' will be withdrawn. So far withdrawn are 142001/004/009/028/029/030/062/063/064/067/068/070/095

Ex-Arriva Trains Northern Class 142s 142090-4/6 have moved to Newton Heath replacing the withdrawn pacers
Ex-Northern Spirit Class 156s 156486/488/491/497 have moved to Newton Heath

158787 and 158792 have been repainted from Central Trains livery to Northern livery

66 Two car, 2-axle railbuses are operated by Northern

Doors: Twin-leaf doors, located on both sides at each end of the train and one door per coach in the middle
Seating Layout: Originally 3+2 bus style bi-directional seating facing into the centre of the car but all have been refurbished. North Western units have had a mid life facelift with new pink and purple interiors but retain the 3+2 bus seats, Merseyrail units have been refurbished with new plastic 3+2 seating that face towards the driving cab of each car. Former Arriva Trains Northern units have been refurbished with 2+2 high-back individual seating and arm rest

Seating Capacity: Originally these units had 62 standard seats in one car and 59 standard seats and a toilet in the other, total seating capacity 121. Now the North Western units have 53 standard seats and a luggage rack in one car and 59 standard seats and a toilet in the other, total seating capacity 112. Merseyrail units have 52 standard seats in one car and 60 standard seats and a toilet in the other, total seating capacity 112. Arriva Trains units now seat 56 standard in one car and 50 standard plus a toilet, total seating capacity 106.

Doors: Twin-leaf doors, located on both sides at each end of the train and one door per coach in the middle, On three car units, the middle car has four doors, one at each end per side.
Seating Layout: 3+2 bus style bi-directional seating. All 2 car units have been refurbished with 2+2 high backed 'Richmond' seating

Seating Capacity: Two Car units have 48 standard seats and a wheelchair space in one car and 45 standard seats and a toilet, in the other car, total seating capacity 93. Before refurbishment they had a total seating capacity of 122. Three car units have 62 standard seats in and a wheelchair space in one car, 73 standard seats in the centre car and 60 standard seats and a toilet in the third car, total seating capacity 195.

CLASS 150 “SPRINTERS”: 

17 Two Car Mark I Sprinters and 22 Two car Mark II Sprinters are operated by Northern

Doors: 2 part sliding doors, Located on both sides of the train at 2/4 and 3/4 positions down the side of each coach. On Mark I units the driver has a manual door that opens inwards, on Mark II units this is a powered door
Seating Layout: Mark I units have 3+2 high back facing seating. Mark II units have 3+2 high back airline seating, most seats in front car face forwards, most in rear car face backwards. No arm rests or flip-down tables. North Western units have been refurbished with chapman seating.

Mark II Arriva Trains units have one car with 73 standard seats and a toilet, the other has 76 standard seats, total seating capacity 149.
