Bradford's Overground & Sovereign Networks

From 23 July 2000, First Bradford's network of services changed in a major new initiative. The Overground™ was at the centre of the changes - the introduction of 6 main colour coded routes across the city, running every 10 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes. Most services changed to make the network clearer and easier to use. Less route numbers are now used, services are more frequent and lots of new cross-city links have been made.

From March 1998, a new standard of service was launched by First Bradford, the Sovereign standard, launched firstly on the X6, then the 72, and then extended to further services. The Sovereign charter defines standard of Safety, Comfort, Cleanliness, Drivers and time keeping. All sovereign services are operated by the latest corporate vehicles, with most services being low floor.

The 23 July 2000 changes marked the launch of almost 100 brand new low floor vehicles for First Bradford. The new buses include, 45 Double deckers (Volvo B7TL Alexander ALX400), 22 Minibuses (Optare Solos), 11 Articulated "bendy" buses (Volvo B7TA Wright Eclipse Fusion) with the remainder being single deckers (Volvo B10BLE Wright Renown). This major influx of buses will mean the average age of the fleet will be under three years.
Details of the new buses along with route branding carried is availble on the First Bradford Fleetlist page
