INTRODUCTION:

The new Transpennine Express franchise operated by First Keolis commenced on Sunday 1st February 2004. This franchise operates all former Arriva Transpennine services except those between Leeds and Blackpool North and former First North Western services between Manchester Airport and Windermere/Barrow. Services between Manchester Airport and Blackpool North are also now operated. Current Virgin Crosscountry services between Manchester and Glasgow will pss to Transpennine Express in December 2007. A new timetable was introduced in December 2004 and new class 185"Pennine" trains started to be introduced in 2006. All 158s are due to leave the fleet and the fleet will comprise of class 185s and class 170s transferred from South West Trains

All 51 class 185s 185101-185151 are now in service

The class 175s are no longer used by Transpennine Express, they are all now operated solely by Arriva Trains Wales

8 class 170 turbostars are currently being transferred from South West Trains along with a 9th to the same specification from Central Trains. These are to operate the Hull service. All are being reliveried into Transpennine Express livery before entering service and will receive an interior refurbishment in the near future. So far 170301/2/4 are in service with 170303/5 due to enter service shortly. 170306-8 and 170399 will arrive later in the Summer

All except one of the class 158s have now left the fleet, they have been cascaded as follows:

Fleetlist Updated 15/10/06 - Recent Fleet Changes:
Pennine class 185s, 185101-137 have now been delivered and are based at the new Ardwick depot. They are now in service on Hull-Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport-Cleethorpes services. They are now being introduced on the other North Transpennine routes and will shortly be introduced on the Manchester Airport-Blackpool services.
The six extra 3 car units have been disbanded into 2 car units again as the class 158s begin to be cascaded to other operators

57 trains are operated by Transpennine Express. These are detailed below. Three depots are used by Transpennine Express, Heaton in Newcastle, and Neville Hill in Leeds. The new 185s are based at Ardwick depot in Manchester with sub-depots in Cleethorpes and York. The class 170s are based at Crofton
