Virgin Crosscountry Trains operate Intercity services from Birmingham New Street, North East to Newcastle, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, North West to Glasgow, South East to London, Brighton and Portsmouth and South West to Penzance, Paignton and Swansea. "Operation Princess" was introduced for the Winter 2002/3 timetable, and all services are now operated by Virgin Voyager or Vigin Super Voyager trains.

Services in Yorkshire includes a half hourly frequency from Newcastle to Birmingham New Street , with hourly services via Wakefield Westgate and Leeds, and hourly services via Doncaster. Virgin Crosscountry services are now split into three routes VT1 to VT3. Routes VT2 and VT3 with 32 journeys per day in both directions operate in Yorkshire

VIRGIN CROSSCOUNTRY ROUTE VT2:
Route VT2 services operate every 2 hours in Yorkshire, from Edinburgh to Bournemouth via Leeds and Birmingham New Street. One journey extends to/from Glasgow or Dundee. One journey starts/finishes at Southampton Central

VIRGIN CROSSCOUNTRY ROUTE VT3:
All other services via Yorkshire are on Route VT3. These services operate hourly via Doncaster and 2 hourly via Leeds, these journeys combine with VT2 services to operate hourly via Leeds. Northwards all services via Doncaster operate to Newcastle only, via Leeds services operate to/from Edinburgh. One journey extends to/from Glasgow or Dundee. In the south services
operate to Birmingham New Street and Bristol Temple Meads. One journey then continues to/from Cardiff Central. Many journeys continue past Bristol Temple Meads to/from Paignton, Plymouth and/or Penzance

The majority of Virgin Cross Country services are operated by 34 four car "Virgin Voyagers" and 40 four car and 4 five car "Super Voyagers". Super Voyagers have the ability to tilt

All trains are in Virgin's new livery of overall silver with red sweeping down at the front.
