First's York High Frequency Network

On Sunday 16th September 2001, First York launched their new Metro network. The Metro offers a simple, frequent, reliable bus service across the city. All routes are colour coded and certain routes operate every 10 minutes throughout Monday to Saturday Daytimes

Most routes within York are now numbered between 1 and 18, Those services which operate less frequently and are subsidised by City of York Council are numbered between 20 and 27 and are branded the 'Grey Line Network'

Plus, all First York routes are operated by the latest low floor easy access buses. These buses comprise 98 brand new buses which are part of an £11.9m investment.

Various service changes have taken place since the network was launched, including the withdrawal of the 20, 22 & 23 by First and also services 14, 17 & 18 have lost their Cyan, Beige & Mauve colours and are no longer part of the main network of services

The First network also incorporates the successful York Park and Ride Network. 

York Park and Ride comprises four colour coded routes, operating from four Park & Ride sites near the York Outer Ring Road into York City Centre, All four routes are frequent throughout the day with extra buses provided to meet demand on saturdays and during school holidays. All Park and Ride Services and operated with the latest low floor vehicles.
